Offense: Riding my tailgate for a few miles in rush hour traffic (and I mean within 2 feed or so, as I could not see his grill or headlights) They proceeded to speed around me when the opportunity arose, and cut back in front of me, cutting my safe stopping distance. They they continued to tailgate the driver in front of me.

We came to a stop, and I grabbed this pic, however once we were back up to speed common speed, this person was doing most likely 10+ over that, as they quickly left the pack in the rear view mirror, cutting in and out of traffic in the left two lanes.

This has to be one of the rudest drivers I’ve encountered in ages. While I didn’t get a photo (I was driving) Here’s the skinny

Car: Late 90′s Ford Taurus – Cobalt Blue
Plate: MN 204-GAD

Offense: While turning from E. Pt. Douglas Rd onto 80th St. the driver attempted to turn from the inside turn lane, into the outside lane, which I was occupying with my SUV. The driver then attempted to speed up, and cut me off by squeezing between me and the vehicle in front of me.

After he was unable to cut me off (as I was also accelerating and moving into the entrance ramp to Hwy 61. NB) he sped up more and cut me off across two lanes of traffic, making a friendly gesture with his middle finger (as did female passenger) (When I passed them on 61, the female passenger made an extra effort to lean over the driver and greet me once more)

Being concerned with safety, I decided to test my horn for about 30 seconds. Horn worked. I also returned the friendly gesture, after all, we’re Minnesota Nice, right?

If you take a look at the MN Courts site you’ll see there are number of statues this could be tied to, possibly 169.18(7)(a), 169.18.7(a), 169.19(1), 169.19(1)(b), or one of a few others that are very closely related in wording.

Winter Weather ~ Are You Ready

With the pending Snowmageddon of 2010 roaring down on us, what do you do to stay safe on the roads?

Personally, I try an limit the fiddling with the radio etc, and utilize Vlingo on my Smartphone while in the vehicle if I do need to place any calls. – I simply say “Call Home” and it makes the call for me. It also has feedback if I get a call or message, so I never really need to touch a button!

Of course I do use some common sense, and if the weather sucks, I just don’t go out.

The largest issue I have is with other drivers that haven’t a clue how to drive in the white stuff. We get to do it every year people, you don’t get selective amnesia for winter driving.

As a rule, Back up a few car lengths and give some space. We aren’t in such a hurry we can’t take the extra few seconds to make good decisions when driving and help ensure we all get to our destination safely, and with all our parts still attached to the car.

So, I ask, what steps do you take in the winter to practice safe driving? What do you do if you end up in the ditch? Do you keep safety and/or warm things in case of emergency?

Yes, driving with headphones is still illegal.. this guy has surpassed the iPod earbud method of others by going straight to the large over the ear brain blaster type.

I probably wouldn’t have noticed, but apparently his vibrating brain didn’t notice me either when it tried to sideswipe me to cut across all the lanes from the furthest left to exit on Washington Ave from 35W south on the bridge. Needless to say, I noticed.

I was not pleased. You sir, need to blast the rest of yourself into oblivion, along with your ears.

Driver fails to utilize turn signals and proper lane changes

Failure to use turn signals and cutting drivers off. Learn how to drive you dumb *****.

Really, it’s a two lane left turn into a two lane eastbound road. You do NOT have the right to start on the inside left lane and end up in MY right lane without using a blinker and only then AFTER you have completed your turn and made sure there is more than a gnats ass room between our bumpers.

I hope me testing my horn for 30 seconds didn’t bother you this morning..

Since when was it legal to drive a motor vehicle with HEADPHONES.
No, this was not an ear bud for a cell phone. This driver was shuffling thru his iPod with both ears stuffed with headphones.
This is illegal for cyclists, AND drivers of motor vehicles as it impairs our ability to hear emergency vehicles, or other drivers honking.
Beware of this guy.

You know those wonderful metered lights that regulate one car at a time? Well apparently the driver of this vehicle doesn’t, or he thinks himself better than the rest of us who wait our turn.
Just blew by me with the car in front of him and sped off. Maybe he can’t count?
I could care less if he did 75 with the rest of traffic, but that 15 seconds you save by blowing a red light will bite you one day.
